A lack of history, a disintegrating kingdom, disappearing people and records, a plague of madness: all signs that the world is not as it ought to be. The Painr is looking into its records to find why the wrath of god is striking all of the warring factions in the known world.

An admittedly Final Fantasyesque game, Ethos explores systems of beliefs, self-perception, what draws characters together and apart, what makes somebody human, and how one may try to escape the past and its bearing on the present. Ethos has a Late Middle Ages (not high fantasy) and Imperial East (go vengeful eunuchs!) feel to it, with much historical basis actual tribes and civilizations (e.g. lots of barbarians, Huns, other crazies). However, the character base is very flexible, as you can play pretty much any type of person you like. The system is mostly original dice-based (with some borrowing from Earthdawn), and uses a semi-original magic system, heavily influenced by CRPGs.
