Sonnet of Sleep

Last night I dreamt I held you in my arms,
Entwined with you I slept so peacefully.
I dreamt of life with you and all its charms,
'Till mornings light touched and awakened me.

My arms were wrapped around my pillow tight,
So warm from night's desirous, loving clasp.
I smiled at the proceedings of the night,
Reflecting on what lay within my grasp.

Still when I woke this morning I could feel,
The warmth and comfort of this dream embrace,
I closed my eyes to make it seem more real,
And sat there with a smile upon my face.

Someday instead of bedding I'll have you,
But now my pillow will have to do.
